Martine Jansen studied English Language and Culture (BA), Philosophy (BA), Applied Linguistics - TEFL (MA), and Writing, Editing and Mediating (MA) at the University of Groningen. She graduated in 2023 after having successfully completed an internship at the University Translation and Correction Service, which is part of the Language Centre at the University of Groningen.

She joined the Mercator team in December 2023 and works on the Regional Dossier series (editor) and other projects.
